With a price tag of $10,000 and with the help of countless volunteers and supporters, an ambulance was purchased and delivered to El Piche, a small town in the outskirts of La Unión, El Salvador. This was done with the vision that someday we would build a medical clinic there.

Members of the Salvadorean Committee El Piche paid a visit to the town of El Piche to oversee the drilling of a well which made water available to 14 surrounding communities. Part of this project was the purchase and installation of electric generators, to power the pump to extract this precious liquid. This project had a cost of $17,000.

Financed the travel and treatment of a victim of El Salvador’s twelve-year Civil War. This young man visited the United States and received much needed prosthesis as both of his legs were amputated when he stepped on a minefield.

The Salvadorean Committee El Piche completed the unprecedented achievement of financing the design, construction and equipment of the first “Enrique Alejo Medical Clinic”. This 12-room facility was named in honor of a long-time supporter and philanthropist, Enrique Alejo. This facility has a pharmacy, dental office and waiting room named after avid supporters Cacique, Abel & Martha Diaz and Silvia Martinez. This project had a cost of $98,000.

124 permanent homes were built in various parts of El Salvador. These concrete and steel homes exceed all industry safety standers and were distributed in the following way: 44 in El Socorro, San Vicente; 24 in La Puerta, Antigo Cuscatlan, La Libertad; 1 in Cotumayo, Apastepeque, San Vicente; 1 in Soyapango, San Salvador; 33 in El Carmen, Verapaz, San Vicente; 21 in San Antonio Silvia, San Miguel. Thanks to our donors from various churches, sport and social clubs, newspaper, radio television personalities and the community for their support when we needed the most. The cost of this project is $310,000.

“The Raquel Ortiz Recreational Center” opened its doors to the residents of El Piche in El Salvador. This first-of-its-kind children recreational center reaffirms our belief that children are our future, and we must invest in them. The cost of this project is $40,000.

23 year-old Antonia Arevalo suvived under the rubble of the 2001 earthquake in El Salvador before being rescued. Unfortunately, other members of her family died leaving four children orphan and homeless. The Salvadorian Committee El Piche, Hola El Salvador of Los Angeles and the entire community helped in donating a permanent new home to the family valued in $17,000.

The hearts of the community in Los Angeles were deeply touched by Morales Family. On February 19, 2003 the Morales Family - Raul, Marisol, Silvia, Oscar and Raul, Jr. - all perished during a tragic accident in Palmdale, California. Through the generous support of Taca Airlines, Olympic Funeral Homess and countless volunteers and donors, $53,000 were raised to benefit the surviving family members and to transport the bodies to El Salvador for burial.

Dubbed "Help Me Live", this campaign to benefit Maria Mercedes "Menchita" Gonzales, through the efforts of the Greater Los Angeles Community, raised $206,797 towards a liver transplant for this 14 year-old orphan girl from El Salvador. Menchita was granted one of her wishes which was to celebrate her 15th birthday among friends and family. Sadly, her condition deteriorated and she passed away in December 2006.

This project will facilitate access to isolated regions from El Gavilán to Salalagua boosting the local economy and benefiting more than 12,000 people (2,400 families).
